13 Colonies Game Show: Cast and Crew!
Session 1 – Week 3 – Costumes
Wolves and ducks and cats! Oh my!
We had a great rehearsal today!
I thoroughly appreciate all the parental participation today. Megan Jones, I’m pretty sure you’re just going to have to wear black and be our shh-er for the 13 Colonies show :p
13 Colonies cast has been asked to memorize their parts for next week! If they have any props for their role and are able to put them together, please bring them next Friday. If anyone needs help putting it together, reach out!
Next week!! Keneil and I (but mostly Keneil) will have some sets out for painting. I’m hoping we have some artistic eyes willing to help. We’ll have it ready to go by 11:30.
Below is a list of characters and their costumes. Most can come out of your closets. Some will be made for the show.
Peter and the Wolves:
Peter – Jeans, sweater, orange hat, fishing pole, sling shot
Birds – Robins. Brown pants. Brown shirt with red belly and wings (Kara D). Painted yellow noses
Ducks – White clothes – a slight puffy skirt/dress would be ideal but not necessary. Feather dusters for hands. Orange duck feet (Eustacia).
Cats – Bailey – black. Andersen – grey. Sophia – orange. Tails and pointy ear headbands (Kate A). Painted noses and whiskers. Mittens?
Grandpa – Flannel, suspenders (?), jeans or khakis. Cane, powdered hair, and make-up wrinkles.
Grandma – Old lady outfit! Seen and approved.
Hunters – Camouflage and orange! Rifles
Wolves – I still need to figure out wolves with the wolf mamas. I think it would be neat to personify them. They could wear jeans and a tshirt that has fur coming out the necks, wrists, and ankles. They could either wear masks or hats with ears coming out of them. The hats could be very “punk” – sideways ball cap or floppy beanie. If using a hat, we’d do some face paint. Need to make bushy tails. I’ll go looking for material for tails and furry necks. There are also some furry vests out there..
13 Colonies Game Show
Happy Ascanbe – Suit jacket and loud tie. Needs either suit pants or tan pants
Trusted Assistant – Fancy “Vanna White” dress. Does not need to be black.
Drummer – All black. Shades. Fedora or other type of hat. Bright shoes.
Black – Fancy black dress
Connecticut – Khaki pants, button up. Big sack with beef, salt, and flour inside. The bigger, the better.
Delaware – Shorts and suit jacket. Crazy tie.
Georgia – High waisted dress and bonnet
Maryland – Khaki pants and olive green shirts. Very military.
Massachusetts – stick horse, tri-corner hat, Paul Revere styled costume
New Hampshire – Khaki pants, dark green shirt (preferably collared). Cream sash with “Green Mountain Boys” on it
New Jersey – Khakis or jeans. T-shirt with “George Washington Slept Here”
New York – Statue of Liberty – all green with toga-esk sash, crown, and torch. This can be as simple or intense as you want it to be. May need sparkles to add some pizzazz.
North Carolina – Khaki pants, white button up, Scottish sash with belt, and hat.
Pennsylvania – Basket full of chocolate.
Rhode Island – Politician-esk. Blazer/pant suit. Vote badger (Eustacia).
South Carolina – Jeans and “Myrtle Beach” t-shirt or “South Carolina” sweater/shirt
Virginia – Khaki’s, button up (red, white, or blue), tie, blazer? Rolled up parchment.
Session 1 – Week 2
What a great day we had today! Thank you all for being part of the Roots family.
I saw the cool diorama that Ms. Dawn made for the Little House on the Prairie class! So fancy.
I wish I could check out that class, it looks fun, but we are busy playing upstairs! The kids in Maple got their roles and scripts today. We didn’t make it through the first read-through because we spent too much time on our smiling game. Next week we’ll start where we left off! We’ll plan to have a costume list next week so people can start rummaging through their closets to find to create their costumes.
The Spruce received their roles for Peter and the Wolf. We are still ironing out the how to use the stage for our meadow and pond, while also figuring how to keep birds out of cats’ reaches. It’ll get figured out! Costume lists for these students will also be ready next week!
Thank you to the mommas who popped in and help control the chaos, Kate A was literally keeping our ducks in a row in the choir loft pond. Theater would not happen without you. We have some art projects that we’re hoping some artistic kiddos (you know who they are) will want to undertake outside of Friday Roots.
Next week Ms. Mary and Ms. Keneil will be on snacks.
Big shout out to Kate A and Denise for supplying the break activities. I’ve been hearing happy things from my kids about them. You’re preparation is appreciated!
