About us:
Welcome to Roots, a local homeschool group designed and led by moms who are committed to building a strong foundation for our children—spiritually, academically, and socially. We focus on faith, family, and education while meeting state requirements and fostering a love for learning. With children ranging from infants to high schoolers, our community provides support, connection, and growth. At Roots, we strive to keep Jesus at the center of all we do as we guide our children to grow deep and stand strong.
Mission Statement:
At Roots, our mission is to create a safe, creative, and Christ-centered environment where children can learn, grow, and build lasting friendships. We value the schedules, talents, and callings of each mom in our group, striving to keep our sessions balanced and manageable for each family. Our studies cover both state-required subjects like music, art, and foreign languages, as well as life skills such as personal finance, survival skills, and cooking. We begin each session with devotions, ensuring that Christ remains our first focus. Our ultimate goal is to provide enriching, hands-on lessons taught by moms, fostering both educational and spiritual growth while keeping the demands on our families manageable.
How our sessions work:
Roots meets on Fridays for three, 6-week sessions throughout the school year. Our students are divided into two groups: the Spruce and the Maples. The Spruce meet for 30-minute classes, while the Maples have 45-minute classes. Each session includes two subjects (i.e. Art and Personal Finance, Cooking and Survival, or Music and Nature Studies).
Before classes, we offer an optional fellowship time from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, where families are welcome to bring bagged lunches and enjoy time together. Roots officially begins with a time of devotion at 12:30; then the classes begin at 1:00. After the first class, the groups take a break before switching to their second class at 2:00.
Roots provides a balanced schedule that fosters learning, community, and spiritual growth in a fun, engaging environment.
